AECOM is seeking a Field Engineering Geologist to join the AECOM Los Angeles, CA office. The position is full-time and is largely field-oriented but with plenty of opportunities for office and project management growth. The Los Angeles office Geotechnical Department is involved with large, interesting and complex geotechnical engineering projects within a 150-mile radius of Los Angeles. The ideal candidate should be willing to be in the field for short to extended periods to investigate transportation, and water conveyance alignments (dams and tunnels included) – as such this opportunity offers a wide range of high-profile technical challenges. It is anticipated that most work will occur during normal operating hours, though the position does require flexibility to work after hours, alternative shifts, and/or weekends and away from Los Angeles, if necessary.
Geologic field mapping
Supervise drilling, sampling and logging of soil borings
Downhole logging of bucket-auger borings
Installation of monitoring wells
Basic geologic and seismic hazards evaluations
CADD skills to prepare geologic maps and cross-sections
Bachelor's degree in Geology
2+ years of related experience and knowledge of geotechnical and engineering geology
CA PG is required
Demonstrated performance of independent analysis and demonstrated strong problem-solving and organizational skills
Exhibit strong oral and writing skills to prepare technical reports
Exhibit strong personal safety awareness
- CEG is desired
