Job Description
AECOM is seeking a highly talented and experienced Director, Decarbonization Strategy to grow and support the national Decarbonization portfolio of programs and projects within our Energy practice. For this hybrid role, AECOM offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and in a variety of Energy offices in multiple locations across the United States through our Freedom to Grow program*.
The Director, Decarbonization Strategy will conduct, direct, and coordinate the sales, strategy, marketing, research, and planning activities associated with Decarbonization business development. AECOM’s clients in this area include private and public utilities; units of government at the local, regional, state, and federal levels; building, facility, campus and real estate portfolio owners and operators, original equipment manufacturers, and other large public and private customers.
The responsibilities of this role include, but may not be limited to, the following :
The Director, Decarbonization Strategy will focus on developing business to provide professional services supporting clients by providing planning, engineering, consulting, project management, program management, and construction management services.
Success in this position requires a dynamic individual with high energy and motivation, an acute passion for developing solutions, a current understanding of the decarbonization market and the local, regional, and national regulatory structures and policy mechanisms that are driving market changes. and system operators. Knowledge of the current pipeline of regional market levers and the ability to collaborate with a strategic interdisciplinary team of operations and business development professionals is expected.
The leader will define the growth plans for various market sectors and cultivate private and public client relationships that result in business growth surrounding Transportation Decarbonization.
Develop and implement multi-year growth strategy, including development of key performance metrics, client account plans, service offerings, market trend analyses, and brand elevation/thought leadership
The ability to identify, develop, and propose new projects; negotiate partnerships and alliances; structure and close transactions; manage senior-level relationships internally and externally; and maintain a sharp focus on client satisfaction throughout project/program lifecycle
Demonstrate expertise in business development and market strategy development/execution
Build collaborative solutions for clients across AECOM business lines
Help recruit and build a team of professionals to support the growth strategy
Establish and develop relationships with private and public utilities; units of government at the local, regional, state, and federal levels; building, facility, campus and real estate portfolio owners and operators, original equipment manufacturers, and other large public and private customers
Proven ability to support Energy projects and programs during execution and implementation
Developed interpersonal, organizational, creative problem-solving, provide collaboration and leadership skills
Perform capture and proposal management tasks
Present written and spoken documents related to complex processes or ideas
Proven ability to collaborate with a strategic interdisciplinary team of business development and project professionals

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
BA/BS degree and 10+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Proven expertise within the Energy industry with business development and market strategy development/execution
Demonstrated relationships with private and public utilities; units of government at the local, regional, state, and federal levels; public and private fleet owners and operators, original equipment manufacturers, charging/fueling providers, and/or other large public and private customers
Demonstrated successful financial closing of multiple energy programs and consulting projects
Preferred Qualifications
BA/BS in Engineering, Construction, Science, or closely related field is preferred
Masters Degree in Engineering, Sciences, Energy/Sustainability, Business, Policy/Public Administration, or a related field is a plus
12+ years of relevant experience within the Energy industry is desired
Experienced in capture and proposal management
Demonstrated quality writing skills and ability to communicate complex processes or ideas to clients and across all levels of the company
Proven ability to collaborate with a strategic interdisciplinary team of business development and project professionals
Demonstrated understanding of multiple project delivery/financing methods and the associated risks and benefits of each
Experience with the financial, technical, regulatory, and policy aspects driving the decarbonization transition

Offered rate of compensation in California only will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $141,243.45 - $261,300.39 .
