AECOM Senior Level Civil Engineer in Long Beach, California

Job Summary

The Long Beach office of AECOM is seeking a Sr. Civil Engineer to lead multi-disciplinary teams in the preparation of site designs, engineering drawings, specifications, construction specifications, cost estimates, and planning/engineering reports.

Candidates will also Identify and develop new clients and work, manage existing clients and contracts, and lead/assist marketing endeavors related to storm water treatment infrastructure.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Performs various responsibilities for a specific technical group or department.

  • Has full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments.

  • Generally requires multi-disciplinary knowledge of engineering.

  • Plans and develops engineering tasks concerned with unique or controversial problems. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches.

  • Maintains liaison with units within the organization and individuals inside and outside of the organization.

  • Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field. Work at this level usually requires extensive progressive experience.

  • Works under minimal supervision. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.

  • Supervises group of engineers and/or technicians, coordinating activities of the unit.

Minimum Requirements

California Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Civil Engineering, with demonstrated experience in designing and constructing stormwater treatment infrastructure.

BA/BS + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

One or more professional certification(s) related to stormwater compliance (CPESC, CPSWQ, CESSWI, CMS4S, QSP/D, QISP, ToR, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental legislation and regulations.

Excellent organizational, technical writing, and verbal communication (presentations and public speaking) skills.

Understanding of CEQA/NEPA environmental documents.

Strong attention to detail.
