Job Description
AECOM has a position available for an Environmental Compliance Specialist that will be located in Southern California. The successful candidate will be part of a diverse team of scientists and engineers that are responsible for EHS compliance, reporting, permitting, due diligence, safety, and environmental field sampling/monitoring in California. This position will support a variety of federal, municipal, and private-sector clients. Typical compliance projects include, but are not limited to, conducting onsite assessments, implementing corrective actions, providing training, developing programs, preparing permit applications, and maintaining compliance with permits. Typical due diligence projects include Phase I and II ESAs and Limited Compliance Reviews.
The candidate will be responsible for utilizing their environmental technical compliance experience to help our clients navigate environmental compliance challenges. They must be able to maintain and develop client relationships and manage environmental compliance programs.
The responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to, the following:
Successfully execute environmental permitting and compliance projects while meeting cost, schedule, safety, and quality objectives
Assist with projects involving SPCC, stormwater, NPDES, hazardous waste, hazardous materials, HMBP, EMS, air quality and other environmental regulatory compliance services including regulatory research, compliance planning and auditing, creating spreadsheets, and compiling and writing reports and other documents.
Provide recommendations and develop innovative solutions to compliance issues.
Conduct environmental due diligence assessments (Phase I and II)
Conduct health and safety assessments.
Support business development efforts, including preparation of technical and cost proposals, to grow our environmental compliance work with existing and new clients.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients to enhance client retention and growth.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
BA/BS degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or relevant environmental discipline.
2 years of technical experience directly related to environmental multi-media environmental regulatory compliance (e.g., CWA, RCRA, CAA, etc.) and its application (i.e., developing SPCC/SWPPP plans, preparing NPDES stormwater and wastewater permits, conducting multi-media compliance audits and providing corrective actions, developing environmental compliance SOPs and programs, etc.).
Valid US Driver's License and pre-employment driving record verification is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous consulting experience.
Ability to act independently on technical matters pertaining to environmental regulatory compliance.
Understanding of California and Federal environmental regulations and experience with local state, county, and city agencies in California
Highly effective verbal and written communication skills; extremely proficient in technical writing; highly effective organization and multi-tasking skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple demands, think strategically and successfully lead multiple simultaneous projects.
Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, judgment and problem-solving capabilities.
Knowledge of Cal-OSHA safety standards
Certified as a Qualified SWPPP Practitioner (QSP), Qualified SWPPP Developer (QSD), Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC), and/or a Certified Erosion, Sediment and Stormwater Inspector (CESSWI) is a plus.

Exempt Position: Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $56,000 - $98,000.00.
