AECOM has a new job vacancy in our London based stadia/sporting structures team. We are looking for a passionate computation designer to join our structural engineering team in Aldgate. This is a role for someone versed in C#, VBA and Python as well as construction detailing software such as Tekla.
You will work closely with our UK digital lead and our computational geometry lead within our structural engineer practice of about 350 people to create tools and workflows that improve the usability and efficiency of our Modelling and design systems such as AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper and Tekla.
Your initial focus will be on assisting with our Hongkong Airport roof project but your role with expand beyond this as you settle in.
You will be tasked with coding and creating/editing bespoke workflows and complex modelling systems by looking at our existing scrips to review and improve them. This will allow us to use these computational tools more effectively on projects such as:
Hongkong’s Airport expansion
Al Janoub Stadium, Qatar
Serpentine Pavilion, London
Japoma Stadium, Cameroon

On a day to day basis as our Specialist Modeller/Coder you will be involved in the design of a wide range of complex and challenging projects. Ideally you will have experience in structural or architectural engineering design.
Developing bespoke coding to improve the efficiency of new and existing scripts
Developing digital toolkits using Dynamo and Grasshopper for project-specific and general structural team applications
Project-based roles focussed on the modelling of complex structures and the development and use of interoperability scripts and codes, for example central data-bases, API links to analysis/BIM, model creation/change management/auditing
Supporting technicians and engineers in expanding their own skills in using and developing digital toolkits, including active participation in the wider UK+I engineering practice Digital Forums
Advising and helping implement computational approaches, looking for opportunities for innovation, Assembling and documenting bespoke workflows for projects for the UK+I engineering practice
You will need to be a highly motivated individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills as you will be a central point of contact for our division
Experience in creating interoperability workflows between BIM Software, Analysis and design tools
A working knowledge of C# and VBA
Strong working knowledge of Python
Experience as a structural engineer or technician, particularly in steelwork and complex geometry
Strong working knowledge of Revit and Dynamo
Strong working knowledge of Rhino and Grasshopper
A working knowledge of Tekla
Ideally you will live locally to the office or be willing to relocate
Experience designing in post-tensioned concrete is not essential, but advantageous.
