Job Summary

AECOM is currently seeking Urban Designer. Under the direction of the senior designer, the Urban Designer will play a critical role in project design and development. The successful candidate will work within the DP&E studio team to provide technical expertise on allocated urban design projects. The role includes the application of architecture and urban design skills along with project coordination responsibilities from time to time.

The urban designer works closely with senior staff including the Project Manager of a particular project to produce and refine reports and product in accordance with the project scope. The Urban Designer must be flexible and able to work both independently and within the team, usually within tight timeframes within the parameters of each project.

As a key member of the studio, the Urban Designer shall actively and positively contribute to the overall running of the studio on a daily basis. This includes participation in the team meetings and any other initiatives that are agreed by the studio leadership team.

Job Duties:

  • Work with the allocated project manager to produce project reports, drawings, and other documents to meet client deadlines as outlined by the PM

  • Assist in the preparation of conceptual and schematic design plans and reports as required by the PM

  • Apply computer skills in a range of packages including CAD, Adobe Creative Suite and other software as required

  • Assist in the preparation of documentation & presentation packages for projects

  • Participate in design workshops with clients and staff as appropriate to the projects

  • Liaise with clients in accordance with the project requirements and as agreed by the PM

  • Work harmoniously in the team environment, practicing open communication, a participative approach to work and commitment to projects

  • Work with other AECOM offices from time to time to assist in projects as well as gain assistance in studio projects

  • Participate in the appropriate practice circles, information sharing and firm wide programs as required

  • Implement and use AECOM’s QA system for all project work, maintain and refine in-house design standards, procedures, and policy

  • Contribute to the team environment, practicing open communication, a participative approach to meetings and work and commitment to projects

Minimum Requirements

  • The ideal candidate should have experience in area of expertise with a strong portfolio of work which demonstrates excellent technical capabilities.

  • Revit and/or GIS

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Architecture, Urban Design or Urban Planning
