Job Description
AECOM has exciting opportunities for Environmental Permitting Consultants to join our Environment, Water and Energy business at Senior, Principal, or Associate Director grade. You will play a key role in supporting the growth and continued success of the Environmental Permitting business in the UK and Ireland.
Based within a specialist team but working as part of the wider AECOM business you would provide environmental permitting compliance support across all industry sectors, through a combination of global framework agreements and site specific commissions.
You would support AECOM’s clients from established process industries, manufacturing and power generation companies with the management of compliance requirements for current and planned activities. AECOM is also helping to shape the development of good compliance practice for the transition to a low carbon economy.
These roles would suit an established environmental consultant, EHS manager with an appropriate level of compliance and team management experience. We envisage that the contribution the successful candidate would provide will include:
Management and delivery of Environmental Permit applications, variations, transfers and surrenders.
Managing the delivery of supporting environmental assessments using colleagues from within your team and the wider specialist resources available in our Environment and EHS teams.
Advising clients on the implications for their business of legislation and regulatory guidance.
Providing the main point of contact with clients and building strong business relationships.
Supporting clients with their regulator engagement.
Mentoring and developing the next generation of compliance professionals.
Minimum Requirements
A base first degree in an engineering or science discipline.
A minimum of 5 years demonstrable experience in an industrial or consultancy role.
A strong track record in successfully delivering Environmental Permit compliance and the associated documentation.
An extensive working knowledge of relevant UK National and European environmental legislation.
Team management experience, including previous responsibility for training, safety, or quality for example.
Excellent report writing, technical reviewing and communication skills.
You’ll be an excellent team player with a proactive and positive attitude and be confident in liaising with colleagues, industrial clients and regulators.
Qualifications
Higher education in an environmental or process engineering discipline e.g. MSc or similar.
Basic project management skills, including experience of programming, and budget/ financial management.
Ideally, a strong track record in successfully delivering Environmental Permit compliance and the associated documentation for process industry or power generation sites.
