AECOM is recruiting for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Electricity Transmission & Distribution team based in Aldgate Tower, London. Our T&D primarily focus on the management, design and supervision of electrical power projects at both transmission and distribution voltages ranging from 11kV to greater than 500kV.
The focus of the London team is large-scale grid infrastructure, grid connections, and private wire networks, particularly in projects where renewable energy, resilience, energy efficiency, and carbon reduction can support global efforts to combat climate change. The role requires high-voltage electrical engineering knowledge and skills, with proven experience in the design and specification of all the primary and secondary plant used in distribution networks. Furthermore, with rapid advancement in way that electrical energy is being used in society, the role requires an inquisitive and innovative mindset, combined with up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies such as heat pumps, electric vehicle charging, demand-side management, novel network design, and HVDC/MVDC & FACTS schemes.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in working with distribution voltages up to 132kV, and will probably have an industrial, renewable generation, or DNO background. In addition to electrical engineering responsibilities, the successful candidate will have an opportunity to develop business development and project management skills. This will involve managing the client interface, preparing bids and proposals, and delivering assignments using AECOM’s safety, environmental, quality and project management systems. The candidate will have an opportunity to complete the training and development required to become an AECOM-certified project manager, with possible career development towards large, multi-disciplinary, infrastructure projects.

Experience across a range of different sectors
Distribution System Planning
High voltage cables
Protection and Control
Power system analysis (DIgSILENT, PSSe, EDSA, CDEGS, EMTP, CAPE, ASPEN etc).
Regulation of electricy networks
Experience of working in the UK or international transmission and/or distribution sector at voltages up to at least 132kV
Experience of medium and high voltage projects including feasibility studies, concept design, detailed design, modeling, site supervision, testing and acceptance.
Strong experience at voltages up to 132kV is necessary.
BSc /BEng Electrical Engineering (Hons)
Chartered Engineer status or be on route to obtaining Chartered status
