Job Summary

We are currently seeking to appoint a Regional Director to support the growth of our Advisory services within the Strategic Planning and Advisory sector with a key focus on the marketplace in the Southeast of England. The role is to be based in our central London office in Aldgate Tower near Aldgate East Underground station; and will be reporting to the European Advisory Lead. The key parts of the Advisory business include economics, rail planning, social market research, monitoring and evaluation.The Advisory team has been identified as a key growth area, where the opportunity exists to significantly increase our market share and to attract higher than average margins.

The team covers a wide range of numerate disciplines, including geographers, mathematicians, planners, economists, software specialists and engineers. The team covers a wide range of areas including:

  • transport policy and strategy

  • rail planning;

  • highway and multi-modal modelling;

  • urban space modelling including traffic micro-simulation and pedestrian studies;

  • sustainable transport planning and practice;

  • freight and logistics planning;

  • social and market research;

  • land use development; and

  • appraisal of transport projects.

The role of a Regional Director within the Advisory team will include:

  • Development of strong relationships with key clients;

  • Development of strong collaborative relationships across all AECOM disciplines and with other organisations;

  • Developing the strategic advisory teams;

  • Overseeing the preparation of winning proposals for projects;

  • Focusing technical direction of projects ensuring that high quality outputs are delivered on time and to budget;

  • Contributing to the Strategic Planning and Advisory strategy for UK & Ireland

  • Responsibility for financial, business development (including strategy development) and staff matters, including recruitment in specific areas;

  • Focus on key client management, responsible for business development and client development;

  • Achieving agreed revenue, profitability and business growth targets; and

  • Acting as a member of the Advisory leadership team, taking on additional responsibilities as necessary.

Minimum Requirements

  • Proven track record within an Advisory Consultant position

  • Proven experience within the rail industry

  • Good understanding of transport planning, having directed key projects and managed high profile clients.

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships

  • Experience in managing a large and diverse team

  • Experience in recruiter and growing a team

  • Experience in raising a company and team's profile within the industry

  • Proven track record in financial responsibilities
