AECOM Buildings & Places is made up of dedicated teams delivering projects in Commercial, Residential, Hospitality, Sports Venues, Work Places, Education, Government and Healthcare.

About Our Team: AECOM’s Sustainability team are recognised as industry leaders in the field of sustainable development. Our projects range from working with Governments to support Building Regulations and National planning policy relating to climate change, net zero to developing energy and sustainability strategies to support the design and planning of new development and the resilience of cities.

We work across all construction stages, from pre-feasibility, through feasibility, design, construction and operation; and across a wide range of sectors - housing, healthcare, schools, universities, offices, retail, hospitality etc. We also deliver advice relating to existing portfolios and organisations aiming for net zero carbon.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Preparing whole life carbon assessments for GLA-referable projects.

  • Modelling embodied carbon options and advising design teams on appropriate options.

  • Preparing circular economy statements and providing advice to design teams on preferred options

  • Running environmental assessments of buildings including BREEAM, LEED, SKA, and WELL assessments.

  • Preparing net zero strategies for major projects ranging from healthcare, through to residential and commercial building projects.

  • Preparing sustainability strategies to support building design teams and sustainability statements to support planning applications.

  • Running and contributing to a wide range of projects as the work load dictates, including policy development work and research projects

  • Delivering high quality, clearly written outputs

  • You will need to be from a consultancy or client organisation with the ability to assist in managing and delivering sustainability projects.

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience of using LCA tools such as One Click LCA and eTool

  • An ability to communicate effectively, be client-facing and able to write concise and clear reports

  • Have a good understanding of and interest in sustainable development issues as they relate to the built environment

  • Work experience within a similar consultancy or other relevant business

Preferred Qualifications

A science, engineering or building-related bachelor’s degree and a building sustainability/energy related MSc is desirable
