Job Description
Job Duties include
Perform as Technical Lead for small to medium projects, as well as individual geotechnical tasks of larger multidisciplinary projects.
Effectively manage project teams and deliver project work to given deadlines and to the expected levels of quality.
Act as a Line Manager for junior employees, supporting them in achieving their professional development objectives and career aspirations.
Undertake senior design checks and reviews of work carried out by others.
Support our Technical Directors and Associates in work winning and maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.
Establish and consolidate professional relationships with internal as well external Clients, maximising the chances of future work winning.
Champion AECOM’s values and aspirations in achieving Technical Excellence, Quality, Health and Safety, EDI and ESG objectives.
On the job mentoring of junior staff, supporting them to develop and achieve chartered status, acting as DE or SCE as needed.
Support and proactively contribute to practice development and innovation.
Represent AECOM in internal and external Client meetings, being able to negotiate and manage Client expectations as well as proactively contribute to ensure Client satisfaction is maintained.
Preparing fee bids and proposals for internal and external clients.
Ensure rigorous adherence to AECOMs industry leading quality assurance programme.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Post-graduate experience in an engineering consultancy or technical department of building contractor / geotechnical supplier.
Proven experience in successfully leading project teams and delivering projects, from feasibility to detailed design stages.
Possess strong problem solving and inter-personal skills, working closely and collaboratively with colleagues and clients in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Being commercially aware and capable of effectively manage scope change to maximise revenue and avoid overspending.
Being able to act as deputy Project Manager, supporting the PMs with providing updates on progress on project tasks, monitor expenditure, capture scope and programme changes.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clear and concise technical reports and documents.
A wide range of experience, knowledge and skills in geotechnical engineering.
A strong working knowledge of UK ground conditions and ground investigation practice.
Strong analytical skills and in-depth experience in the geotechnical design of foundations, earthworks and retaining structures.
Knowledge and experience of the application of the CDM Regulations.
Clean driving licence.
Candidates should be willing to travel within the UK(willingness to travel internationally desirable).
Optional Requirements:
Specific experience in one or more of the following fields would be advantageous:
Design of high-rise commercial and residential developments in urban environments.
Numerical modelling of soil-structure interaction problems, e.g. Finite and Discrete Element Analysis software (PLAXIS, RS2, FLAC, etc).
Coding proficiency, e.g. Python, Excel VBA, etc.
Supervision and management of structural and infrastructural construction works.
Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering and seismic soil-structure interaction analysis.
Large structure and infrastructure multidisciplinary design projects.
Overseas experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering.
MSc in Geotechnical Engineering or a related applicable field is desirable but not essential.
Chartered Engineer status.
