AECOM Design Automation Manager in London, United Kingdom
AECOM’s Design Automation Manager will work closely with the Digital team to manage the development and implementation of design automation solutions (including parametric modelling) in the Transport and Water sectors. You will work with Europe’s Digital leadership, including the AI/ML Director, Sector Parametric modelers and Digital Design & Operation lead in developing standardised workflows. You will also be required to lead a working group aimed at ensuring consistency, identification & development of automated modelling workflows. As part of this role you will be expected to problem solve issues, generate rectifications, and enable a training pathway for AECOM Europe staff. You will be responsible for the adoption of design automation solutions within the AECOM Civil Infrastructure Europe business, working closely with the Digital Lead to drive real change.

About Digital @AECOM
As a manager you will work with leaders from around the world to define and position AECOM, to share best practices, leverage global capabilities and to support opportunities and projects.The Design Automation Manager will work closely with regional and global digital leadership to share, develop and implement solutions.
Create and run parametric scripts to assemble 3D BIM model components for Buildings, Bridges, Tunnels, Roads and Rail.
Lead a Europe working group to prepare script libraries for technical production team use.
Provide advice to the design teams on complex geometry and create advanced parametric families using geometric parameter formulas and adaptive component templates.
Production of 3D BIM project models aligned to project specified BIM requirement.
In collaboration with the Digital Design & Operations Lead Europe, engage on computational design initiatives and design automation for civil engineering disciplines with Sectors.
Help support and enable design teams integrate civil design driven data and develop automation procedures for the production of 3D BIM models.
Audit and curate library for parametric families, customisable and adaptive.
Advise and provide support for interoperability procedures between CAD/BIM & Analysis software packages.
Provide periodic progress reports to senior management.
Financial and project management responsibilities
Responsible for the creation of work plans and task definitions, oversees data collection and develops solutions to business/client problems with a focus on financial analysis and improvement.
May provide solutions to business/client challenges developed from a foundation of understanding or analysis of business practices and goals.
May lead/mentor team of consultants and/or other staff.
Experience in digital project and solution delivery
Strong knowledge of parametric modelling applications (Dynamo, Generative Components
Knowledge of Python, VBA or C#
3D design software experience
Experience of working with global teams
Ability to build advocacy for the role of digital technology in business delivery across diverse groups of individuals
Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Information Management or related field
MBA, MSc or other business degree (desirable)
Knowledge and experience of solution development, implementation and refinement to meet user needs.
Demonstrable experience in consultancy, IT/ Digital or Engineering, ideally within the infrastructure industry
Relevant experience in at least one of transportation or water sectors desirable
Knowledge of and practical insight into the latest digital processes and tools across infrastructure design, delivery and operations
Broad understanding of organisational transformation (people, technology, process)
A strong customer-centric perspective that focuses on outcomes and whole-life value
Demonstrable passion for digital and delivering social, environmental and economic outcomes
Strong communication skills and confidence presenting
