AECOM is currently seeking to hire Associate Director Quantity Surveyor to be based at London.
As an Associate Quantity Surveyor you will provide a comprehensive, accurate and value driven service for large, high profile and exciting key commercial, corporate and residential clients.
Manages, oversees co-ordinates and delegates activities of the function covering: feasibility estimates, cost planning, contract procurement, tender documentation, tender evaluation, value engineering and commercial awareness, fee generation, dispute resolution and post contract management
Play an actual part in sector specialisms, technical excellence and the development of thought leadership and the development of best practices.
Drives performance standards through expert communication and effective use of the performance management process with his team.
Act as a supervisor for current graduates and work with them to achieving competences for the APC.
Works on projects of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors and appropriate problem solving. Acts as an advisor to subordinates to resolve technical problems.
Accountable for briefing the team on the project scope to ensure roles and responsibilities are understood.
Manages the resources on project and within the team to drive maximum efficiencies.
Manages projects effectively using APIC, Pinnacle/ePMP and other appropriate management systems/protocols.
Be aware of and develop marketing opportunities and where appropriate bring to the attention of Directors and the Business Development Department, in order that they may assist in following up potential leads enabling the development of new business.
Specific Skills Required:
Knowledge of the Public Contract Regulations and OJEU practice, being able articulate the Public sector procurement rules for services and works
Experience of the Public sector review process / Gateway reviews – understanding the set timetable of such reviews along a Project’s lifecycle and the topics that each one specifically addresses
An ability to contribute to Strategic, Outline and Full Business Case sections, in particular, the commercial / cost elements of the HMT 5 Case Model used across the public sector
Appreciation of and an ability to contribute to Strategic Benefits assessment for Business Cases, specifically the quantification and reporting
An understanding that public service delivery can attract a spotlight of scrutiny and have political dimensions, yet be able to undertake the role professionally and responsibly
An ability to summarise, potentially in just a few paragraphs, complex issues in plain language and then present to senior stakeholders
An understanding of the difference between and being able to assess quantified risk and optimism bias in cost forecasting within Public projects
A lead on the management and reporting of change control to enable Public sector clients to make advance informed decisions on potential options – specifically setting out the cost and risk impact
Have a broad experience of Forms of Contract including NEC3 (ECC and PSC), GC Works, JCT

- Significant experience operating in the Public Sector.
- Ideally Degree Qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar qualification and hold Chartered status.
