Duties will include assisting with the preparation and setting out of sound and vibration measurement equipment at sites across the UK, undertaking measurements, downloading and analysing data and writing reports. Duties would also include organising and maintaining monitoring equipment and assisting with a range of office based work. You may also be required to help with other environment teams. There will also be opportunities to undertake a range of acoustics work dependent on the available projects. All duties will be initially supervised and mentored to provide on the job training.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to follow instructions appropriate to a task. We are looking for someone who is well-organized and detail oriented, and who can effectively manage their time. Ideally they will have good numerical and report writing skills. We would expect proficiency in personal computer applications, to include Microsoft Word and Excel, with skills in PowerPoint and / or Access, GIS software and computer programming an advantage.
As an Acoustics Technician you will have the opportunity to work with other members of the team on a wide range of project types at all stages of the design and implementation process.
Right from day one, you will be given the opportunity to get involved with some important and challenging projects. Working at AECOM means every day is different, and you will be required to use your skills and knowledge to assist in solving problems and providing input in to our projects. You will work in a team to assist in providing technical solutions for our clients, and your day could involve anything from assisting in technical reports, calculations and designs, travelling to and working on site, or participating in workgroup initiatives
No direct experience is necessary but the position is ideally suited to graduates with a noise and vibration specialism or school leavers with A-Level standard (or equivalent) qualifications who can demonstrate:
Minimum of 3 A Levels at grade ‘C’ or above (or equivalent such as Scottish Standard Grade or Junior Certificate in Ireland) including Mathematics and /or Science, Music, Physics
Demonstrate the ability to follow instructions appropriate to a task.
Well-organized and detail oriented
Effective time management
Strong numerical and report writing skills.
Proficiency in personal computer applications, to include Microsoft Word and Excel, with skills in PowerPoint and / or Access, GIS and computer programming an advantage.
Demonstrate an interest in and a desire to pursue a career in Environmental Science.
Commitment to continued education and improvement through on-the-job learning and training opportunities.
Creative, practical, adaptable and enthusiastic
Ability to think in a methodical way to design, plan and organize parts of projects
English language proficient, holding excellent communication skills to present information in speech, drawings and reports
Eligible to work in the UK
Full, clean driving licence.
The ideal candidate must be flexible and willing to undertake out of hours work on occasion and be away from home for short periods of time.
- Experience of instrumentation is a distinct advantage
