Our Liverpool team has a vacancy for a Technician with experience in the areas of project and client management support, delivery of civil engineering, local transport, urban design/streetscape and local authority/municipal highway schemes. You will be based at our Liverpool office but will provide support across our North West team as required (including Manchester and other offices).

You will be joining a highly successful and growing transportation team at a time when our workload is increasing and our clients are giving us significant opportunity to be involved in strategically important schemes across the North West and North Wales

The Traffic and Local Roads team provides concept and preliminary design, network modelling, detailed design, project delivery and construction management services on a wide range of projects for local authorities and contractors plus support to other AECOM business lines where their projects have a specialised traffic and highways interface.

Our team is actively involved in the delivery of projects and services to a range of both local and national clients including:

Job Duties

  • Support Senior Management of Traffic and Local Roads team as required.

  • Contribute to the preparation of detailed client briefs, fee proposals and major bids.

  • Develop new and existing client relationships.

  • Providing support to Project Managers and the management team in undertaking market analysis and client engagement.

  • Contribute to traffic engineering studies from feasibility to preliminary design

  • Ensure technical content and quality of output produced is in line with project briefs.

  • Familiar with relevant Health and Safety regulations and to contribute to a culture of awareness within the team.

  • Following successful accreditation on the AECOM project management system provide support as an assistant project manager including monitoring financial performance (comprehensive training on AECOM’s project management system will be provided).

  • Assist with the preparation preliminary or detailed design and project delivery of traffic engineering, local transport, urban design/streetscape and local authority/municipal highway schemes

  • Assist with the preparation of detailed technical reports providing specialist technical contributions as required. Take an active role in the preparation of detailed technical reports providing specialist technical contributions as required.

  • Keep up to date with current best practice, techniques, innovation and market trends (particularly across the North region

Minimum requirements:

  • Excellent technical and communication skills.

  • An ability to demonstrate experience and expertise in some or all of the following areas:

  • bid submissions,

  • traffic engineering/management design, cycling/walking/signal and bus design, road safety audits, analysis and design, traffic signing and way-finding, parking, road safety and public transport design, traffic regulation orders and parking, traffic modelling software (e.g. VISSIM, TRANSYT and LinSig etc.)

  • Preliminary and detailed design including 3D design

  • Applying relevant design standards

  • Preparation of technical reports and checking work/specifications of junior staff.

  • Liaising with clients, local authorities, utility companies etc.

Whilst not essential any of the following skills would be desirable:

  • Specialist traffic engineering knowledge. Urban Design/Streetscape. Project Management qualifications (e.g. PRINCE2) Highways asset management and maintenance.

Minimum Requirements

  • Demonstrate a successful track record in bid preparation and support

  • Demonstrate experience and knowledge of feasibility and preliminary design schemes.

  • Knowledge and experience in some of the following aspects: civil engineering, cycling, walking, bus priority, traffic calming, parking and junction design, capacity assessments and modelling.

  • Knowledge of local client networks and multi-disciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A relevant degree/HND or equivalent (via qualification or experience).
