Job Summary

Nuclear Waste Partnership, an LLC of AECOM, is seeking a

Central Characterization Program (CCP) Visual Examination Expert to be based at our Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) location in Livermore, California

TThe successful candidate willprovide oversight and expertise for implementation of CCP-Visual Examination (VE) program at LLNL. Perform VE in accordance with CCP approved procedures and practices for TRU waste. Provide VE training to VE Operators. Coordinate container feedstock between host-site and CCP Characterizations processes. Inspect containers in accordance with CCP procedures prior to containers being introduced into CCP characterization processes. Maintain production reports and track the status of containers through the CCP characterization process. Participate in internal and external assessments as required. Assist the CCP Vendor Project Manager (VPM) with other administrative and recordkeeping duties as required. Function as a back-up (i.e., Secondary) VPM when primary VPM is not on-site, which would include the following responsibilities:

  • Interface with working groups and customers from outside organizations as needed to complete work scope.

  • Provide oversight of CCP operations personnel and provide conduct-of-operations leadership and expertise.

  • Coordinate and supervise CCP equipment deployment, operation, and maintenance activities.

  • Ensure CCP operations personnel are qualified to perform assigned tasks.

  • Obtain authorization to operate CCP processes from host-site facility management.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate’s degree with four (4) years of related experience, or

  • High School Diploma or GED with eight (8) years of experience is required.

  • One (1) year working at a Department of Energy (DOE) Nuclear facility is mandatory.

  • Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be US Citizens.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) years working at a DOE Nuclear Facility is preferred.

  • Working knowledge of CCP TRU waste characterization activities and equipment is desired.

  • Prior supervisory experience is preferred.

  • Prior experience in a position requiring focus and attention to detail in a procedure-drive work environment is a plus.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and using spreadsheets is preferred.

  • Previous WIPP experience is preferred.
