Job Summary

Our Lima Airport project team is seeking an Mechanical Engineer of Record to evaluate, define, supervise, recommend and executes the design of mechanical engineering, attached to the regulations, requirements and needs of the project to be developed, to generate competitive final executive plans within the requests of time, quality and cost established by the client in the project and the needs of the market and the organization. Must have the certification and license to sign off on mechanical design project plans in Peru.

The primary job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Support Project managers with technical needs regarding mechanical project elements

  • Provide recommendations for the technical direction of the program

  • Pre-design support including preparation of Project Definition Docume

  • Participate in design review process as needed for all program elements

  • Support creation and update of mechanical standards and specifications

  • Evaluate and review cost estimates

  • Evaluation of design alternatives

  • Prepare and review detailed engineering drawings and specifications for mechanical design assignments

  • Develop engineering calculations, diagrams and technical reports

  • Assess potential program risks associated with materials, schedule, and costs.

  • Undertake the control of all production aspects of the projects in the office.

  • To act as discipline team leader for projects, from feasibility through to operational phase for Building Services Projects.

  • To manage the design and construction stage activities with both external and internal teams.

  • Act as a key internal and external point of contact:

  • Obtain the necessary information both internally and externally from Architects, Quantity Surveyors and Design Consultants for the design to proceed.

  • Ensure the design team is kept fully informed of all technical and other information necessary for the duration of the project.

  • Represent AECOM at Client, Design Team and Progress meetings throughout the design and construction phases of projects.

  • To act as the main point of contact with design teams.

Minimum Requirements

  • Relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering design, including areas such as specification writing, calculations, and developing designs from first principles including ventilation & pipe system distribution, control systems, energy calculations and be conversant with codes and practices.

  • University Degree in mechanical engineering, or similar / related discipline.

  • Work experience within a similar consultancy or other relevant business

  • Excellent technical understanding of mechanical building services for the different sectors along with a good overview of the other disciplines in building services

  • An experienced Mechanical Engineer or Building Services Engineer presently holding either an engineer level or senior position

  • 10 or more years of progressive experience in design of facilities mechanical component

  • A Professional Engineers license in Peru-(Colegiado Habilitado en Peru)

  • Specific knowledge of major terminal mechanical systems and their functionality including HVAC, BHS, plumbing, etc.

  • Previous experience with integration with and expansion of existing building systems including centralized heating and refrigeration plants and consolidated utility distribution tunnels

  • Ability to assess existing facilities and calculate existing load capacities as well as future load needs

  • Ability to utilize computer systems as a tool to effectively manage tasks

  • Experience of seeing conceptual designs through to completion and dealing directly with clients.

  • Ability & willingness to travel for 50% to collaborate with colleagues at Design Centers of Excellence in the USA/Spain/Colombia

  • Fully Bilingual in English/Spanish-writing/readfing/speaking

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience on mechanical elements of terminal/facilities design at airports is preferred

  • Knowledge and experience in design and or construction of terminals, airport facilities, airside works and landside works

  • Specific knowledge of major terminal mechanical systems and their functionality including HVAC, BHS, plumbing, etc.

  • Experience with large aviation capital programs from a design, construction, and operational aspect preferred
