We are looking for a Building Services Mechanical Engineer to join our established Building Services team in Leeds.

The role responsibilities will include:

To produce detailed design information as required for the RIBA design stages appropriate to the project including calculations, drawings, schematic diagrams, technical reports, and technical specifications for fixed building services system

Contribute to the Carbon Net Zero (CNZ)) deliverables including specification of renewables, energy/carbon reduction schemes and embodied carbon studies and reports

Contribute to other multidiscipline teams on infrastructure projects including potable water networks and firefighting networks

Carry out feasibility and assessment surveys, studies and produce reports

Contribute to fee bid proposals for the team’s work winning and contribute to wider AECOM work winning teams large project bids

Provide support to the team and discipline leads

Attend design team and / or client team meetings

Review the work of Engineers and Graduates and provide support and guidance.

Act as a mentor to junior staff and promote CPD activities

Consider financial implications in producing design options

Carry out risk assessments and value engineering

The right candidate will be proficient in the use of Hevacomp design, IES Virtual Environment modelling software or equivalent and have good working experience of BIM level 2 drawing outputs and 3D modelling in Revit software.

You will have experience in producing initial loading estimates for utility assessments and applications, design of hot and cold-water systems, natural and mechanical ventilation, heating and cooling systems, VRF and DX refrigerant systems, chilled water systems, and above ground drainage and will be able to produce mechanical building services engineering designs from concept through to construction and site supervision.

Experience of making presentations and attending meetings with clients is essential.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

You will possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to understand and express technical concepts clearly and accurately within the design team environment.

Thorough knowledge of applicable, British Standards, CoPs, CIBSE and BSRIA Design Guides and RIBA work stages and the level of detail required at each stage.

Familiar with Building Regulations, sustainability issues, energy conservation, low carbon technologies and passive design, ensuring that sustainability and compliance is achieved with all our projects

A safety focused individual, with safety integrated in everything they do.

Organise and prioritise their own time and tasks to enable the simultaneous running of several projects

Be able to analyse problems from first principles to determine solutions.

Able to deal with clients and contractors at various levels effectively whilst protecting AECOM’s position.

Experience of concept, scheme and detail design across a range of sectors.

Prior experience in a design consultancy or contracting or equivalent environment.

Portfolio of relevant work experience demonstrating required competencies across broad sectors including industrial, defence, education, rail, commercial and healthcare.

Competent in the use of NBS specification writing software.

Good level of computer literacy, including being fully conversant with Microsoft office suite.

Actively working towards CEng accreditation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Honours Degree or Masters degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering to CIBSE educational requirements
