We are currently seeking a Landscape Architect to join our team in Leeds. As a member of one of the UK’s largest and most diverse landscape practices, you will take a lead on a range of types and sizes of projects, including strategic planning, major infrastructure, urban regeneration and environmental enhancement schemes. We will consider applicants with a wide range of experience but a proven track record in UK based landscape design and implementation and landscape planning, including LVIA and TVIA, is preferable. The role is based in Leeds but will support the wider team, principally across the north of England, but also nationally and so some travelling between offices will be expected. Nationally our Landscape Architecture team comprises over 100 staff and provides one-stop access to a variety of services. The office supports a range of sectors, such as land use planning, residential and mixed use, urban regeneration, green infrastructure, transportation, energy, flood alleviation, historic landscapes and neighbourhood planning, with major clients including Homes England, Environment Agency and Highways England. The Leeds office runs a range of social events through a Sports and Social Club including e.g. pizza making, theatre trips and sporting events. We also have Silver Standard cycling facilities.
We have an impressive portfolio of major national and international infrastructure projects. A selection of our current and recent projects includes:
Restoration plan and landscape design for Seaton Delaval Hall
The design of external spaces within Halifax and to support Leeds City Council highway improvement schemes
Landscape masterplan and strategy for Rossington Hall and Golf Course
Landscape design of external spaces including the production of landscape strategies for Doncaster Sheffield Airport
Landscape design and planning for river restoration schemes across Yorkshire for the Environment Agency.
Landscape and visual impact assessments for major infrastructure schemes, including HS2 Phase 2B, Ferrybridge and Eggborough Power Stations including landscape management plans for the sites
Long-term management of habitats at sites across the UK on behalf of the Environment Agency.
Design codes and character assessments to support neighbourhood plans across England for Locality.
The appropriate level of technical expertise is required in order that the job / project accountabilities listed below can be carried out to the necessary standard:
Working with a Project Manager, project management responsibilities, including contractual, financial and programme management.
Establish strong working relationships with other members of the landscape team and internal teams across the business.
Develop and manage the work of others, including as a P2C mentor.
Clear communication, including the ability to write concise technical reports and to contribute to conference calls, meetings and workshops.
Be client facing and respond to client requirements.
Produce or oversee the production of drawings and other technical documentation using appropriate software, with the necessary level of detail as required at various stages of development: strategies, conceptual design, detailed design and production information.
Input into tender submissions
Have the technical ability, knowledge and competence to provide guidance to teach and develop junior staff.
Ability to work collaboratively and iteratively within a multi-disciplinary design team.
Be aware of and understand the AECOM procedures, their importance and their application to projects.
Post Chartership experience.
Experience of detailed landscape design and preparation of tender documentation
Experience of preparing landscape and/or townscape and visual impact assessments and appraisals
Experience of contract administration and managing projects will be useful, including financial control and reporting and programme management.
Knowledge and understanding of the UK legal and planning system with respect to landscape architecture.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
The successful candidate will be competent in the use of AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Cloud software.
Experience of some or all of the following would also be very useful: ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civils 3D, Revit, LSS and ProjectWise.
Full UK driving licence.
Landscape Institute accredited Bachelor’s degree, Diploma and/or Master’s degree.
Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute.
