Job Description
AECOM is seeking a highly motivated and experienced EHS Associate Director. Working within our expanding EHS Compliance and Transactions Team. You will be responsible for managing and supporting the EHS Team, leading bids and projects and for overseeing the technical delivery of a variety of EHS Due Diligence, Compliance and Management System projects. You will be responsible for team management delivering to national and international clients across a wide range of sectors including oil and gas, chemical, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, food and beverage, automation, healthcare and financial industries.
The appointed person will be expected to take on client leadership, team management and direction of projects, as well as the management of EHS bids, tenders and submissions.
Further detail on responsibilities include:
Support Leadership with the Growth of the EHS Team both in terms of resources and the diversity of the client base.
Support the management of the EHS team delivering EHS compliance and due diligence programs.
Support with the management of EHS team responsible for winning bids and proposals, focusing on, but not limited to, EHS compliance, due diligence, management systems etc.
Management of resources and budgets, with appropriate support.
Support the management and delivery of EHS audits with technical participation as required including leading on audit reporting using varied reporting formats often within demanding reporting timescales.
Working with and supporting EHS and Liability Solutions wider leadership team to ensure EHS team understands and responds to clients’ needs building sustainable relationships in order to meet our business development goals.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of our services and team by evaluating project successes and challenges and sharing lessons learned to enhance performance within the business.
Where appropriate, act as a mentor to more junior personnel.
Apply and encourage a high level of health and safety awareness and quality management at all times.
Ensure effective communication with the EHS and wider project teams and clients.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements :
Extensive experience, and willing to travel within the UK and Ireland to support the EHS Team, bids and projects with occasional European and global travel. We are particularly looking for candidates with the following:
Experienced Team Leader/ People Manager.
Enthusiastic and motivated Team Leader with the ability to influence culture and team spirit.
Strong experience of client liaison and leadership.
Excellent, pragmatic knowledge of the application of EHS legislation, guidance and standards.
Ability to communicate effectively in a professional, sensitive and non-conflicting manner.
Demonstrate strong technical knowledge of EHS inspection, compliance, auditing, permitting assessments and reporting.
Ability to work independently and prepare high quality professional proposals/bids/reports.
Excellent management, planning, organizational skills and a good time manager.
Reasonable flexibility and willingness to travel as required.
Open and honest.
A background in Industry is advantageous.
Preferred Qualifications :
For this role you will ideally hold a strong undergraduate degree in an environmental, science or engineering based subject, be chartered or working to chartership with a relevant UK/Ireland institution,
Educated to degree level in a relevant subject or demonstrate an equivalent EHS qualification.
NEBOSH Diploma or General Certificate (or similar) in health and safety. Appropriate industry experience may be substituted for, or supplement, formal health and safety qualifications
A post-graduate qualification is desirable.
Member of a relevant technical professional body, e.g. IOSH, IEMA etc.
