Job Summary

The Buildings + Places Division of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Electrical Technologist for immediate employment in the Kitchener, ON office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be proficient in the use of Revit and CAD to produce electrical design drawings.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare sketches, design drawings, and work within Revit and AutoCAD software

  • Assist with the preparation of working drawings for the structural, mechanical and architectural disciplines as required

  • Coordinate drawings with civil, structural, mechanical and architectural disciplines

  • Assist with construction contract administration – review shop drawings, prepare change orders, and prepare as-built drawings

  • Assist senior level staff as directed

  • Ensure designs conform with all applicable codes and client standards

  • Participate as a productive member of a design team for the Buildings + Places group

Minimum Requirements

  • Graduate of Electrical Engineering Technology program or equivalent

  • 2+ years of experience in the electrical design of building services for municipal, commercial, industrial, institutional facilities, transportation and emergency services

  • Proven knowledge of Canadian/Ontario and other relevant codes and standards (i.e.: OESC, OBC)

  • Knowledge of and experience in AutoCAD, Revit, Micro-Station

Preferred Qualifications

  • Well organized, self-directed work habits with an ability to prioritize and schedule tasks in a dynamic environment

  • Demonstrated written and verbal English communication skill proficiency effectively communicating complex design or technical issues

  • Knowledge of building systems and construction methods

  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office

  • Knowledge in AutoCAD and Revit

  • Construction phase experience in contract administration and field review is an asset

  • Desire to grow within an exciting multi-disciplinary office

  • Eligibility to be registered with OACETT is an asset
