AECOM Canada Nuclear Operations (ACNO) Inc. is owned by AECOM Canada Ltd. with oversight and management from three Business Units within the global AECOM company. ACNO was established and incorporated as a Canadian business in April 2017 for the sole purpose to be AECOM’s nuclear business leader and integrator of AECOM’s broad base of offerings for the primary Nuclear Clients in Canada. ACNO integrates resources from the AECOM internal services groups represented in the organization (Construction Services, Management (Government) Services and Design and Consulting Services), which allows us to offer a broader base of nuclear expertise and subject matter experts over a project’s duration.
AECOM is seeking a Supervising Engineer – Mechanical/Electrical/I&C/Civil to be based in our Kincardine, ON location. An ideal candidate must be local or willing to relocate to the area.
The Supervising Engineer is accountable to ensure that all related Engineering Activities are performed in accordance with approved policies, standards, programs and procedures consistent with the expectations of the Chief Nuclear Engineer and the requirements of the ACNO Nuclear Quality System Manual.

Support the Vice President of Engineering by providing Engineering Products, including but not limited to Designs, Analyses, and other Technical Products. The position is accountable to:
Under minimal direction, completes engineering assignments of advanced complexity.
Comprehensive understanding of a specific discipline and has basic understanding of other disciplines.
May provide technical guidance to a modest sized group of engineers, designers, and specialists.
Fully versed with the preparation and execution of project scope with a specific discipline.
Fully versed in the methods of business development and able to lead the preparation of proposals.
Fully versed with codes, permits and company cornerstone applications.
Fully versed with and can check and review the work sequence, general content, and the methods used to generate specifications for the purchase of material, equipment, systems, services, or construction within a specific discipline.
Fully versed with the process of preparing and checking of calculations as well as the approval, revision, retention, and storage of calculations with a specific discipline.
Able to learn and use basic CAD sketching tools.
Can oversee the review and checking of construction and vendor drawings.
Fully versed in the collection and/or evaluation of data and information regarding technical and economic factors including physical, chemical, environmental, maintenance, operational, regulatory, constructability, and/or schedule factors relating to a specific subject within a discipline.
Understands the external factors that impact specific engineering problems.
Fully understands the use of requisitions and the role of materials management.
Reviews and advises on purchase orders and subcontracts.
Fully understands and reviews interdisciplinary vendor documents.
Leads or assists with the development of manpower, man-hour, and labor cost requirements for a project and can monitor it to aid in evaluating the budget.
Leads estimating tasks and performs material take-offs for a specific discipline.
Has an advanced level of knowledge of discipline’s material costs and of cost analysis and forecasting.
Fully understands and assists with the planning and scheduling of engineering tasks within a specific discipline.
Fully versed in the project change control process and can identify a potential change.
Has an advanced level of knowledge of discipline’s equipment and material lists, and has the ability to instruct others in understanding their use and requirements.
Maximizes the integration of all project functional requirements into a complete project plan.
Maintains positive working relationships with peer leaders.
Builds productive relationships with organizations in and external to Engineering.
The skills and knowledge to execute this role are usually acquired through 15+ years of experience in a Design Engineering environment. The individual would possess good written and verbal skills and an ability to influence and interact with all Management Levels. Specifically the individual would have a:
Demonstrated an ability to manage a technical group of 20 or more, with some lower levels of supervision as direct reports.
Demonstrated a good technical understanding of Nuclear Power Plant Operation
Demonstrated a good understanding of the Canadian Regulatory Environment and its requirements pertaining to Power Plant Operation ,
Demonstrated in depth understanding of the practical application of engineering principles in their discipline and the general application of Engineering Principles in other disciplines.
Specific understanding of the Codes and Standards in their specific discipline and a general knowledge of codes in other disciplines
Completed and maintained ASME Section III Appendix XXIII qualifications (Mechanical)A 4 year degree in Engineering and be a registered and practicing Professional Engineer.
An advanced degree is desirable
