AECOM Engineer 5 – RF / Software (LASSO) in Kennedy Space Center, Florida

Purpose and Scope:
Advanced level engineering position, either Electrical or Computer Science, familiar with RF Monitoring and Software defined Radio. Position entails being able to take I/Q data and write software code for specific RF Monitoring Algorithms such as GEO Location using time difference of arrival and correlation of radio signals. Develops unique algorithms to make the RF Monitoring system more reliable and efficient. Must be able to come up with unique solutions for the current NASA KSC Radio Monitoring system to make the system more efficient and get the full potential out of the RF Monitoring System. Must be proficient in computer programming of radios with one of the programming languages Python, C, C++, Matlab and Data Base Programming such as SQL. Must be able to work well with outside customers and other US Government Agencies. This position takes initiative, being a team player, self-motivation and being able to find solutions to complex radio frequency problems as they come up. Performs a variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing research, development, design, manufacture, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of diverse systems. Experienced with frequent use and application of technical standards, principles and theories. Member of a design, analysis or review team on more complex assignments or as a lead on less complex assignments.
Performs a range of software development, analysis, or review tasks independently.
Generate complete design specifications for the most complex projects.
May train other engineers on technical issues, operations and maintenance of the RF monitoring system.
Coordinate and work closely with other engineering and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements.
Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.
Direct interface and liaison with internal and external customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.
Prepare, deliver and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies.
Support development of technical proposal and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.
Perform other related or associated duties as required.

Bachelor’s in Engineering or a related scientific field or equivalent experience. Ten years of related experience required. Must be proficient in computer programming of radios with one of the programming languages Python, C, C++, Matlab and Data Base Programming such as SQL.
Combined background in software development and RF Engineering are highly desirable.
