Job Summary

Purpose and Scope:

Independently plans and accomplishes tasks related to Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) of broad scope and complexity. Complexity of assignments typically requires creativity and judgement to resolve problems and make decisions in situations where standard methods may not be applicable. Provides advice on unusual situations and may review completed work of junior level employees for accuracy and completeness.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Prepares EMI test plans, test procedures, and test reports.

  • Performs engineering calculations related to design and testing such as link loss budgets, measurement uncertainty, and similar mathematics.

  • Demonstrates initiative in accomplishing assigned task.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in EMI test equipment; Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generator, Power Meters, and Network Analyzers.

  • Automates testing when feasible using an appropriate software language.

  • Performs test set-ups and experiments.

  • Recommends and prepares changes as needed to operational procedures and processes.

  • Performs other classification related and associated duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree and 4 years of related experience or equivalent. Requires proficiency in use of SA’s, VNA’s, power meters and similar RF test equipment, troubleshooting and experience with hands on testing. Competent in LabView, Matlab, Vee, or similar programming language for instrument control.

Preferred Qualifications

Highly desirable to have experience in EMI testing.

Highly desirable to have a commercial or amateur radio license. Highly desirable to have INarte certification.
