Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a GIS Specialist I to be based in Kansas City, MO.

This position is expected to begin in June 2022.

The core function of this position will be to work with a team of engineers and geographic information specialists on flood hazard identification studies. The successful candidate will report to a GIS department manager and will use concepts, practices and procedures to extract and provide GIS data to project teams. Supervisor will screen assignments and provide guidance in techniques and procedures to be applied. Assignments will be given by both the department manager as well as project managers.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a high degree of proficiency working with geospatial tools in support of hydraulic engineering analysis through spatial data creation, data analysis, mapping and cartographic product development, online GIS applications and reporting. The core function of the GIS Specialist I position will be to support production of floodplain mapping deliverables and products for federal, state, and local clients.

The responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Works under direct supervision.

  • Uses concepts, practices and procedures to extract, analyze and provide GIS data for flood risk projects.

  • Performs tasks of limited scope and complexity.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography or other related science

  • Due to the nature of the work U.S. Citizen is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with ArcGIS and GIS databases

  • GIS certificate
