Position Title Environmental Scientist II / III

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Environmental Scientist II or III for employment in the Indianapolis office to assist with a variety of projects including data management, site investigations and remediation. The successful candidate will assist with gathering and analyzing geological, hydrogeological and geochemical data in both the field and office settings. The field activities will consist of soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air and soil vapor sample collection, geological logging and interpretation, and the oversight of subcontractors including laboratories and excavation and drilling companies. The office activities will involve preparation of investigation reports.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Utilize basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope
Collect and enter data, and apply technical principles and theories
Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance
Assist with air and waste water permitting and reporting for variety of clients
Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
Understand and assist with site conceptual models
Prepare investigation reports and drawings
Independent field work and leadership of field teams
Develop cost estimates associated with field related activities
Learn and develop a keen understanding of hazard recognition
Ability to travel up to 50% to various job sites within the U.S.
Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific discipline (e.g., environmental science, soil science, agriculture, geology or any scientific related field)
2+ years' experience for Environmental Scientist II, 4+ years' experience for Environmental Scientist III
Knowledge of environmental data collection, identification, investigation, and data entry
Multi-tasker and problem-solver
Attention to detail and desire to complete quality work products
Ability to work well with others and comprehend instruction quickly
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Products including Word and Excel
Ability to understand and supervise advancement of soil borings and installation of monitoring wells
Possesses technical report writing skills
Driver’s License in good standing
Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required
Environmental specialist with air permitting, general environmental and wastewater reporting experience to include hazardous and non-hazardous waste compliance and spill prevention control and countermeasure (SPCC) compliance
Experience with deviation reports and compliance certifications, emissions tracking/calculation spreadsheets, air emissions inventories, National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) compliance reports, Start-up, shutdown, and malfunction plans, New Source Performance Standards (NSPS), reviewing performance tests, Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR) sampling and reporting.
40-hr OSHA HAZWOPER training and annual updates preferred
Experience with AutoCAD a plus
