AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineering Associate in the Aviation Engineering Group in the Hunt Valley, MD office.
The Hunt Valley Aviation Engineering Group has been serving Commercial Service and General Aviation clients in the Maryland and Mid-Atlantic region for over 50 years, with such clients as Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall Airport, Philadelphia International Airport, Ocean City Municipal Airport, and Easton Airport, along with military and Department of Homeland Security facilities. The Aviation Engineering Group interacts with and is supported by many other in-house disciplines including Planners, Architects, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Civil, Environmental, Geotechnical and Special Systems Engineers in typical projects supporting our airport clients.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Planning, design, engineering, and construction management of airport projects that addresses airfield safety, standards, improvement, and expansion programs.
Design work includes Airfield planning, layout, and site design; hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and design; pavement design; aircraft layout and aircraft movement modeling; stormwater management design; erosion and sediment control design; utility coordination and design; development of construction safety and phasing plans, specifications, schedules, design reports, and cost estimates.
Construction phase services include construction administration and management, shop drawing review, responding to contractor questions, and construction oversite and inspection.
All work will be performed under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university
0-2 years of experience in civil engineering
Basic knowledge of civil engineering design, systems, calculations, along with application of engineering methods and construction methods and materials
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD (Civil 3D, a plus) required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Ability to work within a team and in a multi-disciplinary environment
Must possess a valid driver's license
Pass standard background check
Available for periodic construction inspection
Engineer in Training (EIT), Preferred
Demonstrated leadership skills
Self-motivated individual looking to advance their career in a dynamic team
