AECOM Transportation Planner II/III in Houston, Texas

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative and motivated Transportation Planner II/III for immediate employment in the Houston, TX office. The appropriately qualified applicant should be able to demonstrate prior experience and relevant project work in the transportation planning and traffic engineering projects. The position provides the opportunity to manage, lead, and support transportation planning efforts for exciting, challenging, and high-profile transportation projects.

Work will consist of conducting regional and/or corridor transportation planning, traffic forecasting, traffic impact analysis, traffic simulation modeling, technical reports, project meeting support and other duties as required. Successful candidates will be based out of the Houston office and may from time to time travel during the day or evenings to project sites, client meetings, other AECOM offices. Successful candidates will be expected to work independently and in teams to advance projects through client processes.

  • Transportation Planning

  • Traffic Engineering

  • Data Collection

  • GIS Application in transportation

Minimum Requirements

Transportation Planner II

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Industrial Engineering

  • 3+ years' experience

  • Familiar with software such as Synchro, HCS, and VISSIM

  • Able to manage and conduct data collection, analysis, and reporting tasks for traffic related studies from high level master plans to detailed corridor analyses for schematic development

  • Traffic modeling, report development, good communication skills and technical writing skills

  • Ability to take increasing responsibilities for task/project management and desire to grow technical skills and innovations

  • Valid driver's license

Transportation Planner III

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Industrial Engineering

  • 5+ years' experience

  • Experienced in transportation planning, especially multi-modal corridor planning practice

  • Familiar with software such as Synchro, HCS, and VISSIM

  • Able to manage and conduct data collection, analysis, and reporting tasks for traffic related studies from high level master plans to detailed corridor analyses for schematic development

  • Traffic modeling, report development, good communication skills and technical writing skills

  • Ability to take increasing responsibilities for task/project management and desire to grow technical skills and innovations

  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • PE registration in Texas

  • Experience with the Texas Department of Transportation

  • Experience with NEPA and EIS process

  • Previous experience with the transportation planning process
