Job Summary

The Water Business Unit of AECOM is actively seeking a Senior Civil Infrastructure Design Manager, an expert in water resources and civil infrastructure design, for immediate employment in the Houston, TX office. This individual will be a creative, highly talented engineer who will provide business development support along with technical and management guidance in the design / engineering of flood control, dam, levee, and other water resource projects. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established water resources / civil infrastructure design-oriented career, with strong client contacts and relationships, especially among local, State, and Federal clients across Texas.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Leadership and/or participation in business development activities

  • Acts as primary point of contact with clients and has full responsibility for project delivery

  • Plans, directs, and supervises operations included in a large, complex project or several moderately sized projects

  • Performs independent technical reviews of engineering reports and designs

  • May be responsible for Project teams that include 10 or more members often representing multiple business lines

  • Provide leadership in the areas of design, analysis, and construction of various water resources / civil infrastructure design projects

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited institution

  • 13+ years of experience in the evaluation, planning, design and construction of water resources / civil infrastructure projects, including project analysis, feasibility and budgeting

  • Professional Engineering License required

  • Experience in the management and delivery of highly complex projects and programs

  • Experience in client service and business development

  • Experience in operations and staff management

  • Strong technical progression within engineering for federal and local government contracts, as well as civil clients within the private sector

  • Experience in the analysis, design, and construction of flood control projects

  • Must possess a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering

  • 20+ years of progressive experience within the field preferred

  • Demonstrated business development acumen and experience

  • Leadership experience in proposal preparation

  • Strong client contacts and relationships, especially among local clients in the Greater Houston area

  • Experience managing FEMA, NRCS, CDBG and other grant-funded infrastructure projects or programs
