Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly motivated Safety Specialist for immediate employment in our Houston, Texas office who will be assigned to projects in the Rockies and/or Eagle Ford area.

Position Description:

The ES&H Specialist job family is responsible for developing, implementing and administering safety, health, environmental protection, and substance abuse prevention programs affecting employee and public safety, occupational health, fire protection and prevention, and equipment and property protection. Serves as a resource for line management to develop and administer a proactive prevention program for accidents and illnesses.

  • Under general supervision performs technical work in a wide range of environmental, health and safety disciplines to achieve compliance with ES&H standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements.

  • Exhibits knowledge and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of their environmental specialty.

  • Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of safety and health programs, systems and procedures.

  • Monitors and prevents hazards and diseases that could be found in the work area.

  • Investigates accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace.

  • Recommends improvements in processes, design, procedures and operating equipment to minimize hazard.

  • Conducts employee training and emergency preparedness.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Health or Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering or demonstrated equivalent.

Experience:

  • 2 years of safety-related experience required.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous Oil & Gas AECOM or legacy company experience

  • Previous Safety experience in the Oil & Gas industry

Additional Information:

  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.

  • Relocation and per diem support are not available for this position.

  • Ability to travel to local US offices and project field locations such as Rockies and Eagle Ford area.
