Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a highly talented Instrumentation and Control System Supervising Discipline Engineer II for immediate employment to work in the Houston, TX office.

The Instrumentation and Control System Supervising Discipline Engineer is responsible for managing the discipline engineering to meet client and project requirements regarding scope, scheduling and budgets.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Leads various size groups of engineers, designers, or specialists

  • Intermediate to advanced level of engineering understanding within a specific discipline.

  • Provides support for proposals and understands the business development process.

  • Familiar with discipline tools and understands company cornerstone applications.

  • Familiar with the work sequence, general content and the methods used to generate specifications for the purchase of material, equipment, systems, services or construction within a specific discipline.

  • Fully versed with the process of preparing and checking of calculations within a specific discipline.

  • Understands the process of collecting data and information regarding technical and economic factors relating to a specific subject within a discipline.

  • Fully understands the use of requisitions and the role of materials management.

  • Has basic knowledge of discipline manpower loading.

  • Performs material take off's for a specific discipline.

  • Understands a discipline's material costs.

  • Fully understands the planning and scheduling of engineering tasks.

  • Understands the project change control process.

  • Understands the discipline's equipment and material lists.

  • Maintains positive working relationships with peer leaders.

  • Builds productive relationships with organizations within and external to Engineering.

Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or other appropriate discipline, such as chemical engineering or mechanical engineering, from a 4-year accredited university.


  • 5 years of professional experience with the engineering and design of complex instrumentation and control systems for Oil & Gas onshore plant design projects.

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer

  • Previous experience as an I&C Lead overseeing a team of engineers, designers and/or specialists, including, but not limited to following duties:

  • Ability as self-starter to assume overall discipline responsibility of engineering and design of project(s).

  • Strict adherence to/preparation of schedule and budget.

  • Understanding of management of change process, including recognition and identification of scope changes during project life cycle.

  • Support of Engineering and Design effort hour estimates for projects and assessment of schedule/budget impact of changes.

  • Previous experience providing project proposal support.

  • Previous experience preparing or assisting with the preparation of project scope development

  • Demonstrated Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook , Word and Excel programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Development of control system configuration on multiple software and manufacturer projects platforms

  • Previous oversight of I&C Commissioning/startup planning

  • Programming/configuration proficiency of computer based automated control systems
