AECOM Global Capabilities Esri Digital Solutions Lead in Houston, Texas

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a person for the role of Global Capabilities Esri Digital Solutions Lead.

The person who takes on this exciting role will join the Global Capabilities group to manage the creation and maintenance of AECOM’s ESRI implementation across all geographies. This person will become a key member of this team, working in close collaboration with several other domain and technology experts.

The role will include coordinating a large team of experts, located all over the globe. As such, experience of managing geographically dispersed teams is highly preferably, but exceptional ESRI platform knowledge and experience in implementing GIS strategies on large scale, is a must.

The Global Capabilities Esri Digital Solutions Lead role will be prominently non-project based, but there will be opportunities to work on projects from time-to-time.

This role will report directly to the Digital Applications Leader.

About Digital @AECOM

As a member of the Global Capabilities Digital Solutions Hub team, you will work closely with the other members of the team on developing engineering platforms, applications, applications support and applications architecture for digital solutions deployment on projects around the world. The global digital team will work closely with other digital professionals around the world to advance AECOM’s global digital strategies and priorities.

The Global ESRI Platform Leader will work closely with the rest of Global Capabilities team, and the wider business, to define, develop and implement a holistic digital strategy that will cover all of AECOM’s key global business services. In this position you will be responsible for keeping AECOM’s ESRI standards in sync with Global Capabilities’ digital strategy, in addition to contributing to wider strategy development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Successfully manage and coordinate the creation and continued improvement of AECOM’s standards

  • Work closely with the Global Capabilities (GC) leadership and all the other domain specific GC Digital Delivery Leaders to develop and deliver consistent and industry leading digital solutions for all global business lines

  • Identify and champion continuous improvement methods to improve the use of GIS, and other complementary technologies, by design teams, globally.

  • Collaborate with Information technology & global digital groups on the implementation of our ESRI technologies throughout the business.

  • To work closely with the Digital Implementation Leader to ensure adherence to global standards and procedures on AECOM projects.

  • To work closely with the Digital Training Leader to help develop ESRI specific training and project team support material.

  • To contribute to the development of marketing material, for internal use, to advertise the tools, standards, and services available to our staff

  • To contribute to the development of marketing material for clients and industry partners that communicated our digital capabilities

  • To contribute to the planning and delivery of major projects to ensure they are using best practice tools, process and content to start project delivery

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS and 10+ years of related experience or AA/AS and 12 years of related experience or HS Diploma/Certificate

  • Technical knowledge of ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Portal

  • Technical knowledge of ArcGIS Server architecture

  • Knowledge of ESRI JS API 4.x

  • Technical knowledge of ArcGIS Desktop products

  • Technical knowledge of geographic concepts, including coordinate systems/datums etc.

  • Strong solutions and delivery focus with experience with both user experience and user-centered design (UCD/UX).

  • Knowledge of spatial data management, spatial analysis, and data visualization

  • Knowledge of environmental, planning, and infrastructure concepts

  • Ability to provide innovative solutions to problems applying sound spatial analysis and data management practices

  • Scripting/programming knowledge in Python, Arcade, JavaScript/TypeScript, and SQL

  • Knowledge of integrating GIS with other Digital Engineering software/products

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Spatial Science or related discipline OR

  • Demonstrated an outstanding combination of education, training and related experience that negate the need for an appropriate academic qualification
