AECOM Hydrogeologist Project Manager in Honolulu, Hawaii

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a talented and experienced Senior Project Manager to oversee a high-profile and complex project. The position requires an especially accomplished individual to spearhead a very demanding yet rewarding long-term project. This position is for immediate employment in the Honolulu, HI office.

Applicants will have no less than 10 years verifiable experience in prominent roles performing and managing investigations of petroleum impacts to drinking water aquifers.

Other responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Familiar with project invoicing and cash flow management

  • Manages and directs professional and technical staff to complete complex environmental projects

  • Leads team by utilizing advanced scientific principles, theories, practices existing technologies and past experience to develop technical solutions to complex problems

  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance

  • Analyzes financial statements and completes budget tracking

  • Performs work with minimal direction with periodic reporting to area manager

  • Oversees the preparation of work plans and organizes project studies

  • Performs complex assignments often requiring the development of unique solutions to problems with the support of the project team

  • Supervises junior and mid-level staff during all phases of project work

  • Conducts reviews and provides staff feedback for continued improvement Desired Qualifications

  • Proven experience with regulator and stakeholder negotiations

  • Proven experience successfully managing high-profile, multi-faceted projects involving petroleum impacts to drinking water aquifers

  • Thorough working knowledge of RCRA, CERCLA, and the NCP

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in Hydrogeology, Geology or related field with + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Must be able to pass a background check

  • Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Honolulu, HI

  • Due to the nature of the work U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Engineering, Science or related field

  • 12 years overall professional experience with at least 10 of those years in a prominent role on identifiable CERCLA, RCRA, DoD, or State of Hawaii TGM and TCP programs

  • Expertise in volcanic geology, fractured media, complex hydrogeology, groundwater flow modeling, and modeling of fate and transport of subsurface NAPL and dissolved fuel plumes in the vadose and saturated zones

  • Experienced in the drilling of deep wells, and hydrogeological testing and investigation

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and communication, both verbal and written skills Experience in team management and scheduling of staff and resources to ensure on time and on budget project delivery

  • Superior communications, writing, editing, and reporting skills, for a wide variety of audiences

  • Experience preparing proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and change orders

  • Understands and have led teams of professionals in executing Site Investigations, Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, Risk Assessment, and Treatability Studies in support of Federal environmental projects

  • AECOM MAP training required
