AECOM Environmental Engineer2 in Herndon, Virginia

Job Summary

AECOM is looking for an Environmental Engineer/Scientist at our Arlington, VA office. This position is part of the AECOM Environmental Compliance and Sustainability Group and will assist clients from many different sectors in complying with multiple environmental regulatory programs, with an immediate need for SPCC, SWPPP, and IDS experience/support. Current clients include numerous DoD facilities, municipalities, power companies, data centers, and others. Specific programs include SPCC Plan development, sampling and monitoring, Phase Is, EPCRA compliance, RCRA support, storm water, community outreach, training, auditing and more. Efforts such as site visits, data collection and analysis, sampling, development of technical memoranda and reports, preparation of environmental reporting forms are common responsibilities. Local travel is likely and U.S. travel possible and project dependent. Staff are supported in training, continuing education, and development of technical knowledge and skills to continue your professional growth. AECOM supports a flexible work schedule as projects can accommodate. Senior staff and your peers are committed to your success on this dynamic and collaborative team.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs standard scientific work requiring application of techniques and procedures.

  • Detects problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of sample, difficulties with the equipment, etc.

  • Conducts specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists.

  • Proposes appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge.

  • Draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on analysis.

  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

  • Works under general supervision.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • US Citizen, due to the client’s requirements

  • Must have valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 2 years of Environmental experience

  • Experience with specific programs including SPCC Plan development, SWPPP development and support, illicit discharge studies, sampling and monitoring, Phase Is, EPCRA compliance, RCRA support, storm water, training, auditing and more

  • 40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER training

  • CAD experience
