Position Title TE II or TE III Transportation Engineer

Job Summary

The Transportation Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking a Transportation Engineer (TE II or TE III) for employment; the employee will be assigned to the Office of Construction in Hanover, MD. This qualified Transportation Engineer applicant will provide support services to construction project location across the Central Districts of MDSHA.

Duties would include:

  • Conduct Progress Meeting with Contractor

  • Oversees and Perform field inspections to monitor road conditions, bridges, road construction, and traffic, and material using in road construction and repair.

  • Reviews construction, maintenance or traffic projects for compliance with project specifications and plans.

  • Monitors contract performance and project status for major construction and maintenance projects.

  • Maintains records and prepares reports pertaining to public works installations and projects

  • Compile quantities and reviews construction reports and other data.

  • Coach, mentor, and recommend training for staff.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

  • 2+ years of experience with State DOT Transportation Projects focusing on the supervisory of construction inspection and contract compliance

  • Valid Driver's license and reliable transportation required

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs needed

  • Candidates will be required to achieve certification in the field testing procedures in concrete, soil aggregate, hot mix asphalt and National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) certification may be required.

  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and the knowledge to be able to conduct constructability reviews

  • Ability to write and review contract change orders and perform minor design work

  • A working knowledge and ability to review a CPM Schedule

  • Must have good communication skills; oral and written

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of professional engineering principles, practices and methods

  • Good computer skills; MS Office and other applications relative to engineering projects

  • Attention to detail

  • Organizational skills

  • Willingness to learn

  • Excellent time management skills; self-motivator, team oriented
