AECOM Principal Drainage Engineer in Hamilton, New Zealand

Job Summary

As a result of a range of project wins and an increasing pipeline of infrastructure work across the region, AECOM's team in Hamilton has an opportunity for an experienced Principal Drainage Engineer to be part of the regional business and wider national water team.

Working at AECOM means working closely with engineers and scientists of varying backgrounds, along with drafters, and project administrators on some of the most exciting projects in the region. We are currently helping to deliver large scale multi-discipline infrastructures projects for our selected key clients.

As an experienced Drainage Engineer, you will provide technical engineering and design support in the area of drainage, hydraulics and hydrology for civil infrastructure projects across our Transport, Environmental and Building & Places divisions. You will be given the opportunity to actively participate in and contribute to the technical aspects of a range of projects so that they are consistently and successfully delivered according to plan.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 8+ years’ industry experience in a similar role

  • Undertake health & safety duties, fulfilling all responsibilities for health and safety in design

  • Knowledge of regional, national and international design standards, manuals and best practices

  • Experience in hydrological studies and detailed hydraulic designs of stormwater and drainage infrastructure such as drains, culverts and wetlands

  • Experience in designing open and piped drainage systems, and erosion and sediment control

  • Knowledge of detailed road and multidisciplinary interfaces

  • Proficiency with modelling software including Drainage analysis and design software technology applications (e.g. 12D, HECHMS, HECRAS, Culvert Master, HY-8, Civil 3D etc.)

  • Supervise and mentor junior team members

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, or similar), or equivalent

  • CPEng status - desirable (or working towards)
