Job Summary
AECOM is currently seeking a Mid-Level Environmental. Scientist for immediate employment to fill a telecommute position working on Canada wide oil and gas programs, including support for similar programs in the US. Although the position will primarily be a telecommute position, it may require some occasional travel for group and project related meetings. The telecommute position could support the AECOM program anywhere in Canada.
This position will integrate into a team of environmental engineers, scientists and field technicians to provide leadership to junior level field staff on an established program.
The work requires technical knowledge of the areas of site investigation, remediation techniques, reclamation, oil and gas projects and contaminated site regulations.
Utilizes advanced scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies when working on unusually complex technical problems.
Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
Develops solutions which are highly innovative. Assignments are often self-initiated. Acts as advisor to management and clients. Oversees the work of less experienced scientists.
Additional Job Description:
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Working in a remote/telecommute capacity with various teams across Canada and supporting US teams as necessary
Conduct environmental investigation, cleanup, and permitting projects
Perform geologic and hydrogeologic studies
Perform Project Management duties including managing budgets, proposals, scopes of work, schedules, health &safety, and staff
Prepare technical work plans and reports
Direct staff in the execution of tasks
Provide QA/QC support
Have some interaction with client to gather information and discuss project requirements
Prepares contract documents or project deliverables

Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS + 6 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant technical discipline, including but not limited to geology, hydrogeology, or environmental science/engineering.
8-12 years of experience as an environmental consultant, industry representative, or regulator versed in contaminated site investigation, remediation, and allocation.
Professional registration or track to obtain professional registration
Knowledge of at least one set of provincial contaminated site regulations
Experience working in the oil and gas industry
Professional geoscientist/engineer registration
Strong team worker, flexible and hard working
Superior technical report writing skills
Strong communicator
Behavior-base safety conscious
Detailed-oriented
Ability to supervise personnel to execute both field/in-office tasks
Experience with developing conceptual site models, and preparing remediation strategies
Experience developing and preparing reports for submittal and acceptance for technical client and allocation support
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with clients and project team.
Ability to prepare graphics and reports that present complex technical matter in a clear and concise manner
Computer proficient in MS Office, contaminate transport estimating tools, and a variety of statistical programs helpful.
Canadian regulation experience; minimum knowledge of at least one set of provincial contaminated site regulations.
Attention to detail and a thorough approach to work
