AECOM’s Ontario Environmental Health & Safety team is filling a full-time position for an Environmental Management System Project Coordinator. The immediate assignment is to support the construction of a large wind energy project in Central Ontario. In this position, they will support the EMS Lead and will be required to work remotely in a site trailer within central Ontario on a part-time basis (i.e. rotating weeks). For the rest of the time, they will be located in either our Kitchener, Guelph or Markham office. Other office locations may be considered, on a case by case basis.
The appropriately qualified candidate will have ideally 1+ years of experience implementing an Environmental Management System at construction sites. Knowledge and demonstrated experience of working with Environmental Management Information Systems (EMIS), specifically Gensuite, is an asset. The candidate must be highly motivated and accountable, enjoy working outdoors, work well collaboratively with other team members, and be an effective communicator. Organizational skills and an ability to work well on multi-disciplinary teams in a fast paced environment are essential qualities.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Provide EMIS training and support to Project Staff
Maintain project documentation within the EMIS
Review completed inspection forms and event forms for accuracy and completeness
Prepare weekly construction environmental monitoring reports
Manage permit-related tracking and reporting including follow up on and closing out action items, Request for Information (RFIs), Transmittals and associated audits
Record meeting minutes at appropriate environmental design, construction and EMS meetings
Post-secondary degree or diploma in environmental studies, science or biology from a recognized university or college
Ideally 1+ years experience implementing an Environmental Management System at construction sites
Experience with Environmental Management Information Systems (EMIS)
Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently
Ability to work in both field and office environments
Must possess a valid class G driver’s license and vehicle
Working experience with Gensuite
Experience in renewable energy or other construction projects
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Valid Standard First Aid + CPR
Successful completion of ISO 14001:2004 or ISO 14001:2015 course
