AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Maintenance of Traffic Engineer, to join our Transportation team, located in Grand Rapids, MI. Reporting to the GR Traffic Team Lead, this position will be responsible for supporting and leading Maintenance of Traffic design expertise in relation to engineering work associated with the AECOM Highway Design projects.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Primarily responsible for the completion of tasks associated with the maintenance of traffic for highway design projects.
Serve as the lead maintenance of traffic engineer for several highway design projects that will be of varying complexity and size.
Performs work under the supervision of AECOM’s state lead for maintenance of traffic engineering services.
Supports the management of efforts and costs for tasks as assigned.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
Performs technical work; while overseeing the work of other junior staff when assigned to support a project.
Technical work includes but is not limited to:
Analysis of potential traffic impacts for roadway design projects throughout the various stages of construction.
Contribute to the development of construction staging and sequencing with a focus on improving mobility and safety performance outcomes.
Develop maintenance of traffic staging concepts and produce traffic management plans for each assigned project.
Write reports and special provisions supporting the maintenance of traffic staging as the project progresses.
Support resolution and refinement of maintenance of traffic plans as necessary during construction.
Provides traffic engineering services in support of other planning and preliminary engineering projects for roadway, freeway, transit systems, managed lanes, bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving design calculations, analysis, value engineering, writing technical specifications and project cost estimates.
Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered, apply innovative design solutions, implementing current technology to meet project design needs.
Provides guidance, mentoring and coaching to entry level/junior engineers, or technicians, to facilitate learning and improvement of their technical skills.
BA/BS + 4 years of relevant experience including work in the state of Michigan or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Relevant experience in transportation design, temporary pavement design, temporary drainage design, and maintenance of traffic design for multimodal transportation projects.
Minimum 8 years of job-related experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Michigan PE licensure
Experience in roadway design or maintenance of traffic design included temporary drainage, guiding civil design with a focus on roadway / highway
Hands on design experience on Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) transportation projects and familiar with MDOT standards, Highway Design Manual, Traffic Manual, Highway Capacity Manual, policy and procedures are preferred.
Experience with FHWA, State, and local transportation design.
Skilled in transportation design software including: Bentley MicroStation, Power GEOPAK, OpenRoads, and other platforms utilized by local agencies in Michigan.
Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office programs and other relevant software programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, Bluebeam, and preferable Project.
