Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an Industrial Water/Wastewater Design Engineer to join our Michigan Water Business Line group in our Grand Rapids office. This professional will focus on water and wastewater treatment design for a wide variety of industries, including treatability and pilot testing, troubleshooting, permitting, process design, preparation of construction plans and specifications, construction engineering, and commissioning services.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Technical work on moderate to complex industrial water/wastewater treatment process system evaluations and project tasks, including planning, permitting, design, modeling, and construction engineering

  • Creative problem-solving to troubleshoot and address client water/wastewater treatment challenges

  • Preparation of work plans and implementation of treatability and pilot studies

  • Construction commissioning support

  • Liaison to regulatory agencies for project permitting

  • Business development support for the industrial water/wastewater practice

  • Actively participate in business development meetings, professional associations and conferences, and other opportunities to interact with potential clients

  • Assist with authoring proposals (technical approach, project team, relevant experience, schedule, fee)

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Environmental, Civil or Chemical

  • Strong communication skills

  • Proficiency with computer applications including process modeling, word processing, spreadsheets and related applications (MS Office Suite)

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in Engineering, preferably Environmental, Civil or Chemical

  • Ability to obtain PE license with sufficient experience (ability to become licensed in various states if necessary)

  • Water/wastewater treatment, system or process design experience in variety of industrial markets

  • Experience in scoping and implementing industrial water/wastewater treatability and pilot studies

  • Experience with biological and physical/chemical treatment processes

  • Process modeling experience

  • Project capital cost estimating experience

  • Construction and commissioning experience
