Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a highly talented I&C Supervising Discipline Engineer III or IV to be based in our Glen Rose, Texas location at Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant.

Position Description or Typical Responsibilities:

The Instrumentation and Control Supervising Discipline Engineer is responsible for managing the electrical discipline engineering team to meet client and project requirements regarding scope, scheduling and budgets.

  • Leads various size groups of engineers, designers, or specialists.

  • Intermediate to advanced level of engineering understanding within the electrical discipline.

  • Provides support for proposals and understands the business development process.

  • Familiar with discipline tools and understands company cornerstone applications.

  • Familiar with the work sequence, general content and the methods used to generate specifications for the purchase of material, equipment, systems, services or construction within the electrical discipline.

  • Fully versed with the process of preparing and checking of calculations within the electrical discipline.

  • Understands the process of collecting data and information regarding technical and economic factors relating to a specific subject within the discipline.

  • Fully understands the use of requisitions and the role of materials management.

  • Has basic knowledge of discipline manpower loading.

  • Performs material take-off's for the discipline.

  • Understands a discipline's material costs.

  • Fully understands the planning and scheduling of engineering tasks.

  • Understands the project change control process.

  • Understands the discipline's equipment and material lists.

  • Maintains positive working relationships with peer leaders.

  • Builds productive relationships with organizations within and external to engineering.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements for an Instrumentation and Control Supervising Discipline Engineer III:

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or other appropriate discipline, such as Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, from a 4-year accredited university.

Experience:

  • Must have an active PE License in the state of TX or possess a PE license in another state but be able to obtain licenses in TX within 6 months of employment,

  • Must have a minimum of 6 years of engineering experience.

Minimum Requirements for an Instrument and Control Supervising Discipline Engineer IV:

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or other appropriate discipline, such as Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from a 4-year accredited university.

Experience:

  • Must have an active PE License in the state of TX or possess a PE license in another state but be able to obtain licenses in TX within 6 months of employment,

  • Must have a minimum of 8 years of engineering experience with 3 years of supervisory experience.

Other Requirements (apply to I&C SDE III and IV):

  • Must have a minimum of 4 years of commercial nuclear power plant engineering experience;

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in preparing Engineering Change (EC) packages for commercial nuclear power plants. Must be fully versed in preparing all aspects of the EC packages including: preparation of task problem and solution statements; preparation of design inputs, evaluation of the change against the plant design inputs; determining and assessing applicable Operating Experience; identification of affected documents & drawings; preparation of installation package including installation requirements, parts list, & test requirements; preparation of risk assessment for the EC; has performed 50.59 evaluations or screens;

  • Demonstrated experience with digital I&C upgrades, including Software Quality Assurance (SQA) practices, Nuclear cyber security assessments (NEI 08-09 and NEI 13-10) and set point calculations;

  • Shall be fully versed with the process of preparing and checking of calculations as required for the I&C Discipline

  • Must have led a team/group of 3-5 engineers;

  • Must be able to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear power plant;

  • Very familiar with the preparation and execution of project scope documents for the I&C discipline;

  • Has a solid understanding and can lead all aspects of estimating for a discipline;

  • Leads the development of manpower, man-hour, and labor cost requirements for a project and can monitor the effect of these on the budget;

  • Fully understands the project change control process, can train others, and identify potential changes;

  • Responsible for performance management and mentoring.

  • Is fully versed in updating and maintaining project schedules and resource tools;

  • Due to the nature of work, candidate must be a US Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • STS (Safety Trained Supervisor) certification is a plus

  • Qualified to the NEI SDP process through NaNTeL
