Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Traffic Engineer for immediate employment in the Glen Allen, VA office.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and complete work relative to traffic engineering

  • Preparation of traffic studies

  • Work independently and/or with team on efforts related to traffic engineering analysis and studies

  • Traffic Impact Studies, Traffic Operations Analysis, Traffic Microsimulation Analysis, Travel Demand Modeling, Crash Data Analysis, Interchange justification analysis

  • Database and GIS applications

  • Must be able to: Work effectively and collaboratively with in-house staff, sub-consultants and clients; Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

  • Work well with project teams

  • Traffic signal and pedestrian crossing design

  • Intelligent traffic system design

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent

  • 5+ years of working experience

  • Should have hands on knowledge of typical traffic analysis tools and software such as HCS, Synchro, Cube Voyager or Cube Avenue, Vissim, Corsim

  • Should be familiar with traffic engineering standards such as MUTCD, HCM and FHWA criteria for modification of interchanges

  • Excellent communication (written and oral) skills required

  • Must possess a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Managed/Express Lanes analysis

  • Experience in GIS applications for Transportation projects

  • Marketing experience, preparation of technical proposals

  • P.E. or ability to obtain within one year
