Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a creative, highly talented Project Architect for immediate employment. The position, located at AECOM’s Glen Allen, Virginia office; which specializes in Sports Architecture, is responsible for preparing designs, for new construction work, and/or renovation of sports related facilities across the US. AECOM is searching for candidates that have the ability to be a role model, be client-focused, be impactful and be decisive.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing architectural designs (computer based and hand sketches) to meet project specifications

  • Adapts and modifies design features and operational methods to meet a variety of situations

  • Preparing and developing details, edit project specifications, prepare and oversee schematic through working drawings

  • Overseeing finished plans, specifications, and material approval

  • Demonstrating a strong sense of urgency combined with the ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively within a team environment

  • Assist in preparation of designs, quantity calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings

  • Prepares graphics and visualizations for project presentations and directs the production team

  • Specific focus in executing design and vision for sports and public assembly related projects

  • Use computer software as a tool for solving basic architectural problems

  • Maintain conformance with building standards, established architectural practices, and applicable building codes

  • Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member

  • Supports the work of the Junior Designers in executing the design and vision

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from an accredited university or other related field required + 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Experience with BIM-Revit, Sketchup, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, or other related CADD and 3D software

  • Working knowledge in the use of computers for making architectural drawings, calculations and 3-D visual simulations

Preferred Qualifications

  • NCARB and LEED Accredited Professional certified preferred but not required.

  • Experience in the use of computers for making architectural drawings, calculations and 3-D visual simulations.

  • Interest and experience in sports and assembly related projects is preferred but not a requirement.

  • Basic understanding of architectural principles and theory associated with project design and construction document production.

  • Basic knowledge of standard construction techniques and principles.

  • Proficiency in word processing, excel and effective communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.
