Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Construction Project Manager to be based in Glen Allen, VA. The Program and Project Management Business Unit of AECOM is actively seeking an agile, highly talented Project Manager to lead project teams for retail fuels construction projects across the United States. This person will provide technical and mentoring guidance for their project team taking each project from inception, through design, construction, and handover. The candidate will be working on projects including major and minor renovations and ground up new construction including site work and underground fuel tank installations, renovation, and rebranding. This position is preferred in our Richmond, Virginia or Charleston, South Carolina office, but may be telecommute for the right candidate. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established project management career in the multi-site/commercial market.

Job Description

  • The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Plans, schedules, conducts or coordinates detailed phases of projects

  • Regularly develops and evaluates project plans

  • Provides leadership, direction and technical guidance on projects

  • Assesses the feasibility and soundness of proposed project plans, drawings and specifications

  • Develop and manage the design scope of all project work.

  • Direct an external team of architects and engineers to design, document, coordinate, and execute multiple simultaneous high-quality projects in line within the project guidelines.

  • Responsible for ensuring proper quality control procedures are implemented on all projects

  • Conducts and assist in technical presentations as needed

  • Manage internal and external stakeholders

  • Review and approve vendor invoices

  • Assist in the procurement process

  • Budget and schedule management for individual projects and a portfolio of projects

  • Strict adherence to AECOM and Client safety protocols

  • Institute and maintain documentation and project management standards.

  • Travel to sites and meetings across the assigned territories

  • Mange General Contractors and other Sub-consultants

  • Provide weekly updates on project performance; budget, schedule, 2-week look ahead, etc.

  • Liaise with Authorities and Utility providers as need to deliver projects as scheduled

  • Understanding of project budgeting and scheduling with a focus on soft costs and the ability to communicate and work closely with external consultants to ensure that project milestones are being met and deliverables are on-time and complete.

  • Excellent decision-making skills and a highly resourceful problem solver.

  • Ability to initiate and establish business relationships with internal business partners and external consultants.

  • Clear communicator and excellent presenter with oral, written, and graphic representation skills.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Bachelor's degree in project/construction management, engineering, architecture.

  • Experience working with local, state and federal state permit agencies.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in all MSFT applications and familiarity with Project Management and Scheduling Software.

  • Proactive on assignments and demonstrate initiative.

  • Must work independently with minimal supervision, and complete multiple technical tasks under tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 plus years of experience in the in the project/construction management field.

  • Experience with retail fuels projects

  • The ability to work with others at various locations, both internal and external.

  • Process oriented, detail oriented, reliable and focused.

  • Strong work ethic and professional demeanor.

  • PMP and/or CCM designation.
