Job Description

AECOM’s Ground Engineering specialists provide one-stop access to services in feasibility / desktop studies, ground investigation, interpretation, detailed design, contract administration and construction supervision for geotechnical works. We work for leading UK&I and international clients and have commissions of varying scale across all sectors, including HS2, Northumberland Line, Aberdeen to Central Belt Decarbonisation, various pumped hydro, windfarm, solar and battery projects, electrical transmission upgrades, Levern Water restoration, Upper Garnock Flood Prevention Scheme, clean and foul water infrastructure, health, education, and defence sector building projects, brownfield regeneration and development enabling projects, independent geo certification for Trunk Road authorities, landslide and rockfall risk mitigation for local authorities. You could be involved with key projects imperative to our zero-carbon future, such as new nuclear build, decarbonisation of the UK's rail network, and our award-winning work on Net Zero Teesside. In addition to amazing opportunities to work on mega projects in the middle east and high-speed rail in Scandinavia.

We require ambitious team players with the knowledge, experience and skills to take day to day responsibility for delivery of projects and tasks, ensuring technical quality and adherence to budget and programme. The positions will suit those who can work with a high degree of independence and lead the input to projects from desk study and feasibility through ground investigation and interpretation to final design. You will be joining an established team of Ground Engineers in the AECOM Glasgow Office, working closely with colleagues across the UK&I.

To be successful candidates must have a proven track record in the delivery of ground engineering projects in the UK and be fully conversant with the technical standards that apply.

Job Duties include:

  • Close support to our Technical Directors and Associates in project delivery, work winning and maintaining high levels of client satisfaction, raising company profile.

  • On the job coaching, mentoring and development of junior staff, line management, delivery management.

  • Support practice development and innovation.

  • Active input to team and client meetings, being prepared to own decisions and put forward alternative ideas and concepts.

  • Develop client and co-professional relationships to build your own network of work-referrers and strengthen existing relationships.

  • Assisting with fee bids and proposals for internal and external clients.

  • Preparing, checking, and reviewing a wide range of technical documents including Desk Studies, Interpretative reports, Specifications, Drawings and Geotechnical Design Reports.

  • Ensure rigorous adherence to AECOMs industry leading quality assurance and SHE programmes.

  • Possess strong problem solving and inter-personal skills, working closely and collaboratively with colleagues and clients in a multi-disciplinary environment.

  • Strong

s : written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write clear and concise technical reports and documents.

  • A wide range of experience, knowledge and skills in geotechnical engineering and fully competent user of specialist software.

  • A strong working knowledge of UK ground conditions and ground investigation practice.

  • Strong analytical skills and in-depth experience in the geotechnical design and construction of complex foundations and piled foundations, earthworks, strengthened earthworks, ground treatment and retaining structures.

  • Knowledge and experience of the application of the CDM Regulations.

  • Clean driving licence.

  • Candidates should be willing to travel within the UK.

Qualifications

  • BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering.

  • MSc in Geotechnical Engineering or a related applicable field is desirable but not essential.

  • Chartered Engineer status is required, or you must be on track to achieve this within the next 6 to 12 months.
