AECOM Principal Bridge Engineer in Glasgow, United Kingdom

Based in the heart of Glasgow with good transport links to all areas of Scotland and the UK, our Rail Bridge team is looking for an experienced Senior Bridge Engineer, with substantial experience in Civil and Structural Engineering Design, and ideally with a good knowledge of Network Rail delivery processes.
Our team's activities includes, however are not limited to assessments, inspections, feasibility studies, outline and detailed designs on a wide range of bridges and associated railway infrastructure schemes. Our Glasgow team also help with local, national and international work with a variety of clients both from the public and private sector including design & build partnerships with contractors.
Projects we are currently working on include:
Aberdeen to Central Belt – Route Clearance for Electrification
Northumberland Line – Freight to Passenger route development
Far North Lines – Route development study.
Fife Electrification - Route Clearance for Electrification
East Linton Station Upgrade
As a Principal Bridge Engineer you will have the following responsibilities:
Undertake and project manage various engineering schemes from inspection and assessment, feasibility through to detailed design. This may cover rail and/or road bridges and associated structures.
Take responsibility for the contribution of Graduate Engineers and Technicians as appropriate.
Responsible for production through to client sign off of Technical Approval documentation.
Hands on technical design for road and/or rail structures.
Hands on assessment of road and/or rail structures.
Production of tenders including quality documentation and costings.
Project Management including programme and resource monitoring, quality control, technical management and delivery.
Mentoring graduate engineers in their route to Chartership.
Significant experience with bridge and related structural inspection, assessment and design schemes. High level technical skills in this area and the ability to lead teams of engineers in such projects.
Proven design and project management experience delivering quality work within time and budget.
Experience in road and/or rail projects.
Experience in working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Previous exposure with clients of both national and local authorities, together with major contractors.
Ability to manage staff and project Health and Safety responsibilities including compliance with CDM legislation.
Degree educated or equivalent in a relevant subject such as Bridge, Civil or Structural Engineering.
Chartered or Incorporated with the ICE or good progression towards accreditation.
