We are currently recruiting for an AutoCAD Technician for our Civils Assessment Framework Agreement (CAFA) Bridges Team in the Glasgow Office, to work on a wide range of modern and historic cast iron, wrought iron steel, concrete and composite steel/concrete structures. Although you may not be experienced in these areas at present, your skills profile will be such that you can improve and develop these skills efficiently. You will form part of the CAFA team covering the Network Rail Scotland Territory, numbering over 60 staff.

You will prepare 3-D models and 2-D drawings as deliverables for the CAFA Network Rail Bridge Assessment framework, for structures both within the highway and railway environments.

The Full Glasgow Bridges team (of which CAFA is part) is mature and has a strong reputation in the assessment and inspection of Highway and Network Rail Bridges and structures and have delivered on some of Scotland’s most prestigious projects, including the Forth (Queensferry) Crossing, White Cart Viaduct, Borders Railway, Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route and Harthill Footbridge.

  • CAFA Bridge Inspection and Assessment for Network Rail

  • A38 Derby Junctions D&B

  • Lomond Bridge Deck Replacement – West Dunbartonshire

  • M54 to M6 Link Road

  • Clyde Tunnel Inspection

  • Dargan Rail Bridge Inspection/Assessment/PTSI

  • York Street Interchange – A roads scheme to improve the flow of traffic at the confluence of two motorways and the Westlink in Belfast

  • Dublin Bus connect

  • Shieldhall Overpass Refurbishment and Strengthening – Glasgow

Minimum Requirements

  • HNC/HND level qualifications only

  • Experience of working as a CAD Technician on bridges and structures in UK.

  • Ability to produce all 2D and 3D design information required for any type of structure.

  • High level of experience with AutoCAD

  • Experienced in RC detailing, with experience of using CADS-RC highly desirable;

  • Knowledge and experience of BS1192 relevant standards would be preferable.
