AECOM Bridge Technician in Glasgow, United Kingdom

Job Summary

Our Transportation team currently have a vacancy in our Glasgow office for a Technician with experience of working on infrastructure projects. AECOM are currently expanding their Bridges team in Scotland following a major project win and require additional technician resources with proven skill in the use of AutoCAD.

You would be part of the Bridges Sector, covering Scotland and Ireland, numbering over 50 staff. The Sector works closely with other disciplines from the Rail, Geotechnical, Environment, Transport Planning and Building Divisions.

You will initially be based within the CAFA team helping with the Inspection and Assessment of Network Rail structural assets from all areas of Scotland, but will also help with other major structural projects if required.

The successful candidate will be an experienced Autocad user and an experienced detailer in all the modern and historic materials gained on a variety of bridge and infrastructure projects. You will have a proven level of experience of delivering projects in accordance with the requirements of the Eurocodes, to the client’s satisfaction. Knowledge of historic railway infrastructure and materials would be an advantage.

You will have strong development skills with the ability to manage and supervise the work of less experienced staff, as required. You will also have the technical ability, knowledge and competence to provide guidance and to teach others.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Production of CAD (Computer Aided Design) drawings

Undertaking graphical design and desk top publishing

Supporting the administration of projects, including maintaining records

Assisting with data review and analysis

Ensuring outputs are accurate and meet the required standards

Contributing to providing solutions to problems

Assisting with site visits to collect information or observe existing situations

Minimum Requirements

HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualifications

Strong experience in the production and detailing of Bridge Structure drawings using AutoCAD.

Experience in the supervision and instruction of less experienced technician staff

Preferred Qualifications

Able to Produce CAD (Computer Aided Design) drawings

Able to undertake graphical design and desk top publishing

Proven experience in supporting the administration of projects, including maintaining records

Able to assist in data review and analysis
