Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented, motivated and experienced Scientist III, Geology for employment our Germantown, MD office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Complete required safety training; safety training will be assigned through AECOM University and other company and client programs

  • Complete required company and client safety metrics reporting (safety observations, etc.) and record in company tracking systems

  • Will be author of reports and plans; will meet all deliverable/reporting requirements for client projects while delivering high-quality and innovative deliverables

  • As part of PMO team, assist Germantown PMO staff with requests for field or office support as needed. Field work to support test borings, well installations, groundwater sampling/monitoring, and other possible field tasks will be part of role

  • May serve as a deputy project manager to assist project manager with work scope planning, scheduling, and reporting as well as client management and communications

  • Pursuit of AECOM project manager certification expected within several years

  • Assist the Shell PMO office leader and team with special projects as necessary

  • Strive to meet a billable utilization of 93% for FY18

  • Will report to senior team leader of PMO and will have senior mentor

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology or related science field required

  • 4+ years of experience

  • Ability understand basic geologic and hydrogeological concepts to be applied to projects

  • Experience with environmental investigation/assessments and remedial action plans

  • Project planning and scheduling experience is required

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications necessary

  • Reliable and client focused approach to work with an understanding of importance of safety with daily work for individual and project staff

  • Some travel required – usually no more than 10 percent

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree preferred but not required

  • Professional Geologist Registration is preferred

  • 40-hour Hazwoper Health and Safety Training
