Job Summary

  • Serves as lead engineer on mid- to large size projects.

  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.

  • Approves and signs off on work.

  • Provides technical expertise for studies and design efforts.

  • Presents complex technical solutions to clients.

  • Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others.

  • Participates in development of technical proposals.

  • Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on large projects.

Minimum Requirements

  • 10-15 years of related experience with geotechnical design and construction

  • MS degree in Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited US School or additional relevant work experience equivalent to

  • Licensed Professional Engineer

  • Thorough understanding of the concepts of soil mechanics and rock mechanics

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience managing geotechnical projects greater than $25,000.

  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams remotely located within AECOM

  • Ability to travel for 1 to 2 weeks domestically and internationally

  • Experience and willingness to mentor junior staff

  • Experience in preparing cost and qualification based proposals for private and government clients

  • Experience with underground construction, shallow and deep foundations, slope stability

  • Experience with gINT, Geostudio, Plaxis, Flac or other related design software

  • Due to the nature of these contracts, must be a US Citizen

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Geotechnical Engineering

  • Experience with working on international projects at US military installations

  • Ability to obtain security clearance

  • Willingness to represent AECOM at professional organizations

  • Interest in business development
